Polygoni Multiflori Radix Polygoni Multiflori Radix is the dried root tuber of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb., family Polygonaceae. The main active substances are polysaccharides and stibene glycosides. Polygoni Muliflori Radix can invigorate both specific and non-specific immune system and delay degeneration of immune system organs. Several animal studies found that Polygoni Multiflori Radix can reduce level of cholesterol, triglyceride and beta-lipoprotein in blood, reduce formation of lipid plaque and reduce atherosclerotic inducing lipid accumulation in arteries; stimulate hematopoietic function, hepato-protective, anti-myocardial infarction, and post-cerebral-ischemic rehabilitation.
